AKSS in the « Pharos Summit 2022 – Greek – US Collaboration in Higher Education »

This past Sunday, 6th of November, 2022, an innovating remarkable event in public education, the “Pharos Summit 2022 – Greek – U.S. Collaboration in Higher Education” took place at the Cultural Centre – Stavros Niarchos Foundation, as an initiative of the Hellenic Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs, in cooperation with the US Embassy in Athens, the IIE (Institute of International Education) and the Fulbright Foundation.

30 American Universities (among others Berkley, Columbia, Harvard, John’s Hopkins, Princeton, Yale, etc.) and 24 Greek Universities and Institutions gathered together for a collaboration conference. The Foundation of the Anargyreios and Korgialeneios School of Spetses (AKSS), the only non-university institution that participated in the conference, held a prominent place in this important event upon an official invitation from the Ministry of Education and the Minister herself, Mrs. Niki Kerameos.

As a second and equally important distinction, AKSS was the only participant in the conference that presented a 5-minute video of its ventures and its promising collaboration with the US Universities.

In continuance, the representatives of the American Universities had the opportunity to visit the premises of the National Library and discuss with the representatives of the Greek institutions.

The AKSS Foundation with a 5-member delegation passed out general and detailed pamphlets to the American visitors. Furthermore, the AKSS representatives attended successive meetings with the US visitors in the pursuit of synergies.

The feedback of the US university representatives was very warm.

Both in the video and in the informative brochures, which you can see posted on the AKSS website, the Foundation is promoted as an ideal place for conferences, seminars or even larger scale study programs. Also, the island of Spetses was equally displayed for its beauty and as a venue for education.

This morning, the 7th of November, 2022, the inauguration of the Summit was held at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation – Cultural Center, with the honorable presence of the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The AKSS Foundation was represented by its President.

During this occasion, more discussions took place which opened more doors for new opportunities.

The prominent participation of the AKSS in the ” Pharos Summit 2022 – Greek – U.S.  Collaboration in Higher Education”, for which the Foundation warmly thanks the Minister of Education & Religious Affairs, Mrs. Niki Kerameos, sets new horizons of cooperation and actions for the Foundation, as well as new perspectives for Spetses.
